A step beyond a traditional presentation. GQS paired clear energy instruction with creative, hands-on exploration so students could connect new ideas with the world around them.
Make energy science tangible
The Tier 2 session introduced students to renewable energy science and industry pathways through guided discussion and creative activities. Students explored how energy concepts relate to everyday life and future opportunities.
Participation was central to the experience. Rather than only listening to a presentation, students could ask questions, test ideas, and express what they had learned.
More than a lesson on slides
The workshop was designed around challenges that can make energy education difficult to deliver:
- Passive introductions can leave little room for students to engage.
- Curriculum and classroom time can limit deeper exploration.
- Energy careers can seem highly technical or out of reach.
- Educators need meaningful enrichment without major program restructuring.
From listening to doing
GQS combined an introductory renewable energy presentation with guided, design-based activities. Students applied ideas through discussion and creative exploration, making abstract concepts easier to understand.
Building on the awareness developed in Tier 1, the session encouraged self-expression while connecting energy knowledge to practical possibilities and future pathways.
Learning that opens possibilities
The case study describes benefits for both students and institutions: earlier exposure to renewable energy, more opportunities for applied learning, greater engagement with sustainability topics, and a workshop format that educators can incorporate without extensive setup.
